Halsey has spent the last few months teasing their next album, and now she has confirmed its title: The Great Impersonator.
On socials, the 29-year-old singer posted a trailer for the album along with a caption that describes it as "A Confessional Concept Album."
In the trailer, narrates their journey so far, saying, “I really thought this album might be the last one I ever made,” Halsey says in the trailer. “When you get sick like that, you start thinking about all the ways it could’ve been different. What if this isn’t how it all went down? 18-year-old Ashley becomes Halsey in 2014."
She then ponders how their career could have been different had she emerged through different decades, asking, "What if I debuted in the early 2000s? The ’90s? The ’80s? The ’70s?” The video also shows her dressed through various styles mimicking the looks of those decades' icons such as Britney Spears, Annie Lennox, Kate Bush and Stevie Nicks.
Back in June, Halsey revealed she was diagnosed with Lupus SLE, a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder, which she admitted will be a narrative for the album.
Last month Halsey teased that The Great Impersonator will be "all over the place" and "full of experimentation." It is expected to be released later this year.
