Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” remains at the top of the Billboard 100 chart for a 14th consecutive week, putting him in the company of artists like Whitney Houston and Elton John.
“Old Town Road” is now one of only 10 songs that has stayed at No. 1 for 14 weeks.
The track, which features Billy Ray Cyrus, is on its way to matching a 16-week record held by “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee ft. Justin Bieber and “One Sweet Day” by Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men.

One artist who could not be blamed for wishing Lil Nas X would ride off into the sunset is Canada’s Shawn Mendes.
“Old Town Road” has twice stood in the way of a No. 1 song for Mendes. Last week, the Lil Nas X hit kept “Señorita” by Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello at No. 2 in its first week on the Billboard Hot 100.
This week, “Señorita” fell to No. 5.
In May, Mendes’ single “If I Can’t Have You” – currently sitting at No. 14 – debuted at No. 2 behind “Old Town Road.”
Mendes can take some comfort knowing that “If I Can’t Have You” and “Señorita” are his highest-charting tracks ever. He had previously never had a Top 5 hit.
