Lil Xan tweeted Wednesday for the first time since early May to let his fans know he has kicked a drug habit.
His Twitter profile now reads: "I’m back and Healthy. Never Give Up."
In a message, the rapper explained: “About 2 months ago I suffered from multiple seizures. This was my second time in the last year I’ve been hospitalized for having seizures. I decided it was best for me, my friend’s (sic), family and supporters that I quit all prescriptions (sic) pills.
"The doctor’s (sic) wanted me to wean off the pills but I went cold turkey and although it has been the toughest time in my life I’m happy to say that I’ve been sober from all prescription pills since the scare.”
The 23-year-old, whose real name is Nicholas Leanos, added: “This is the first time in along (sic) time that I have felt alive.”
Lil Xan vowed to continue working on being a better person. “I want to be an example for everyone that it’s never too late to get your life back on track and you are not alone on this journey.”
The rapper was hospitalized in April after his mother – with whom he was staying during the COVID-19 lockdown – called 911. He said doctors told him he suffered a panic attack, which he believed was caused by the stress of being confined to home.
In November 2018, he announced via Instagram that he was entering rehab, telling TMZ that the death of Mac Miller due to an overdose hit close to home. “I know we struggle with the same problems and I just feel like it’s time to get better,” he said, adding that that he was addicted to “a lot of opioids.”
Late last year, Lil Xan claimed he “quit rapping” and was “only gonna focus on moving forward with the Xanarchy clothing line" – but later admitted he was “not quitting”. He said his next album would be titled Sorry I Didn’t Quit.
In his new message, Lil Xan said: “I’m working on the best music of my life and can’t wait to share with you all the things I have in store for the future."
