Loretta Lynn will be honoured next month as Artist of a Lifetime at the CMT Artists of the Year event.
The 86-year-old country music icon will receive the award from Sissy Spacek, who portrayed Lynn in Coal Miner’s Daughter.
“I’m always so proud when I receive any awards for my music, but when I heard it was this year’s ‘Artist of a Lifetime’ award it made me really happy,” Lynn said, in a release. “It’s an honour to be able to make music that people enjoy and I’m really excited to have a new album coming out.”

The singer suffered a stroke in May 2017 that forced her to cancel several shows and postpone the release of her new album Wouldn’t It Be Great (it’s out Sept. 28). In a Facebook message at the time, she told fans that she “ain’t dead yet” and “can’t wait to see all of you on the road!”
Last January, Lynn broke her hip when she fell.
Previous Artist of a Lifetime honourees include Kenny Rogers, Merle Haggard and Canada’s Shania Twain.
