The first photo of a reunited My Chemical Romance was shared on the band’s Instagram this weekend.
According to the caption, the black-and-white photo was snapped Nov. 15. It shows Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Mikey Way and Frank Iero sitting together in a rehearsal space.
MCR announced on Halloween that it was getting back together for a show on Dec. 20 at Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles. Then, the band announced shows in Australia, New Zealand and Japan will happen early next year.
The band split in 2013 after 12 years and four studio albums. Next month’s show will be the first live performance by MCR since 2012.
In February, Gerard Way all but ruled out a reunion.
“We definitely get offers regularly to reunite – it’s a constant thing,” the singer told The Guardian. “It’s flattering, it’s really nice of people. I miss playing with the guys, but I don’t think so.
“I like being super-creative all the time, and, unfortunately, when you’re in a really big band you’re actually doing a lot of boring stuff, like being on the road and missing your family. A lot of it is business.”
Buzz about the reunion helped put 2006’s The Black Parade back on the Billboard 200 album chart this month for the first time in two years.
