As the world grapples with COVID-19, two of the world’s biggest concert promoters have suggested hitting the pause button on arena and stadium shows.
Live Nation and AEG said in a joint statement Thursday: “We collectively recommend large scale events through the end of March be postponed. We continue to support that small scale events follow guidance set by their local government officials.
“We feel fortunate to have the flexibility to reschedule concerts, festivals, and live events as needed, and look forward to connecting fans with all their favourite artists and live entertainment soon.”
The two companies said they have partnered with talent agencies CAA, WME, Paradigm and UTA to form a task force “to drive strategic support and unified direction ensuring precautionary efforts and ongoing protocol are in the best interest of artists, fans, staff, and the global community.”

The announcement came as various governments propose or enact bans on large indoor gatherings. In Quebec, for example, events with more than 250 people are banned for 30 days, threatening a pair of Elton John shows in early April.
Billie Eilish on Thursday postponed 11 shows in the U.S. on her Where Do We Go? tour. "I’m so sad to do this, but we need to postpone these dates to keep everyone safe,” she tweeted. “We’ll let you know when they can be rescheduled. Please keep yourselves healthy. I love you."
Rage Against the Machine also announced it is postponing its Public Service Announcement Tour, following bands like Pearl Jam, The Glorious Sons and country duo Dan + Shay and singer Michael Bublé.
Post Malone, who has only five more shows scheduled in March, has not yet announced any cancellations. He performed in Denver on Thursday night and his next show is scheduled in Phoenix on Sunday.
