A No. 1 solo hit continues to elude Shawn Mendes, whose latest single “Wonder” debuted at a disappointing No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The title track from the Canadian singer’s forthcoming album (out Dec. 4) was released on Oct. 2 after a couple of days of teasing on social media.
“Wonder” is Mendes’ 14th song on the Hot 100, which represents U.S. sales, streams and radio airplay. He has previously had four solo songs in the Top 10 but none made it to the top spot, though “If I Can’t Have You” came close in May 2019 when it reached No. 2.
Mendes’ only No. 1 is his collaboration with Camila Cabello, “Señorita,” which topped the Hot 100 in August 2019.
