The wait is over! Shawn Mendes has premiered “Wonder,” the title track from his fourth studio album, due out Dec. 4.
The song was written by Mendes with pals Matty Peacock and Connor Brashier. Peacock, who choreographed the “If I Can’t Have You” video, directed the "Wonder" video.
"I wonder if I'm being real / Do I speak my truth or do I filter how I feel?," sings Mendes. "I wonder when I cry into my hands / I'm conditioned to feel like it makes me less of a man."
In a message to fans he shared on social media on Wednesday, Mendes said: “I tried to be as real and as honest as I’ve ever been. It’s a world and a journey and a dream and an album I’ve been wanting to make for a really long time. I absolutely love it … I hope you can listen front to back.”
Wonder is the first collection of new music from the 22-year-old Canadian singer since his 2018’s self-titled album and “Wonder” is the first song Mendes has released since last year’s “If I Can’t Have You” and “Señorita” (with Camila Cabello).
He teased the lead single's release this week with a trailer featuring the first track on the album, "The Intro."
Mendes has stayed mostly out of the spotlight since last December, when he wrapped up his world tour. The trek included eight shows in Canada, including his first stadium show – in front of 50,000 fans at Toronto’s Rogers Centre – that was filmed for a Netflix special.
He scored the first No. 1 hit of his career with “Señorita” in August 2019, the same month he launched his eponymous foundation.
