A previously unreleased Britney Spears song available only from one retail chain was made available on digital and streaming platforms on Wednesday – the pop star’s 39th birthday.
A vinyl edition of “Swimming in the Stars,” recorded for Spears’ 2016 album Glory, went on sale last month at Urban Outfitters. Canadian fans had to fork out $22.98 plus shipping of either either $9.95 or $29.95.
“So let’s go / swimming in the stars tonight,” Spears sings. “Oh, and we’ll glow, and shimmer in diamond lights / We’ll dive in head first, all the way down / In gravity’s arms we’ll drown / The world is ours / when we’re swimming in the stars.”
Last month, Spears vowed to never perform again unless her father Jamie is fired as her co-conservator.
In March, Spears’ youngest son Jayden Federline said he doesn’t think she will make music again. During an Instagram Live, he shared: “I remember one time I asked her, I said, ‘Mom, what happened to your music?’ and she was like, ‘I don't know, honey. I think I might just quit it.’ I'm like, ‘What? What are you saying? Like, do you know how much bank you make off of that stuff?’”
