Canadian singer The Weeknd has been slapped with a lawsuit over his Starboy comic books.

Realtor Eymun Talasazan claims that in 2014 he came up with the idea for a series of comic books with artists from the R&B and rap scenes as well as fictional characters.

He alleges he contacted reps for The Weeknd last year about having The Weeknd as a character named Starboy (the title of The Weeknd's 2016 album). When he got no response, he planned to move forward with the concept without The Weeknd’s involvement.

Talasazan applied to trademark “Starboy” for comic books last October – only 11 days after The Weeknd announced he partnered with Marvel. (In April, The Weeknd filed documents opposing the trademark application. The case is pending.)

Talasazan claims that The Weeknd’s Starboy comic books, published this year, have the “near identical premise” that he pitched.

His lawsuit, according to The Blast and TMZ, seeks an injunction preventing The Weeknd from selling his comics. Talasazan also wants profits from the books and damages.
