Like egg nog and mistletoe, a new song from Suzie McNeil has become a holiday tradition.
The Canadian singer has previously released “Santa (I’m Waiting For You)”, “It’s Christmas Time,” “This is Christmas,” “For Christmas Time” and “Christmas Came Early.”
This holiday season, McNeil is gifting us with “Me & You (This Christmas).”
McNeil and her husband of six years, Canadian musician Andrew Mactaggart performed the new song for iHeartRadio from their home, where they will spend their fourth Christmas with son Findlay, who was born in November 2017.
“This year, my holiday will look as different as most of ours,” McNeil told iHeartRadio.ca. “My family will just lay cozy and low, and we will enjoy the quiet moments, and the chance to really slow down and relax.
“That was the message that the writers and I tried to get across in this song – the ‘silver lining’ kind of feeling of what this unique Christmas will be like.”
McNeil hopes people can “leave all the hustle and bustle of the season behind us this year, and just enjoy the comfort of our close families, of those who are most dear to us.”
McNeil and Mactaggart are doing a livestream Dec. 11 at 7:30 pm ET on her YouTube channel to raise money for the Table Soup Kitchen Foundation.
Juno-nominated McNeil rose to fame with tracks like “Believe” and “Supergirl” after becoming a finalist on the reality show Rockstar: INXS. She also starred as Oz in the Toronto production of the Queen musical We Will Rock You.
McNeil and Mactaggart spent years touring and recording as members of Loving Mary, which doubled as Steven Tyler’s band for his solo shows. McNeil also backed Aerosmith during its Deuces Are Wild residency in Las Vegas.
