Country legend Willie Nelson suddenly ended his show last weekend in San Diego because he was suffering from breathing problems.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that the 84-year-old singer walked off stage coughing during his opening song, “Whiskey River.”

A rep reportedly said Nelson had “a bad cold or the flu” and was returning to Texas to recover. He cancelled upcoming shows in Palm Springs, Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada.

In August, Nelson pulled the plug on a concert in Salt Lake City – again due to breathing problems.

He later tweeted: “I am sorry to have to cut the SLC show short tonight. The altitude got to me I am feeling better now & headed for lower ground.”

The country star also cited illness for cancelled shows in January and February last year.
