Justin Bieber, Hailey Baldwin Rumours Swirl

Whether Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin got married last week or not depends on where you get your celebrity news.

Last Thursday, TMZ posted a photo of two people it claimed were Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin walking into a courthouse in New York City. TMZ reported that the couple went to the Marriage Bureau, where a source allegedly overhead Bieber thanking a court official “for keeping it on the DL.”

TMZ said it was unable to confirm that Bieber and Baldwin got married.

On Friday, People published an “exclusive” article with the headline: “Justin Bieber Secretly Marries Hailey Baldwin.”

The report read: “A religious source spoke to the family and confirmed to PEOPLE that they were legally married at the courthouse, but are going to have a religious ceremony and celebration with family and friends soon.”

On Friday, TMZ claimed Bieber and Baldwin “will tie the knot soon – as early as next week – and we’re hearing it may happen in Canada.”

It cited a source as saying the mansion Bieber reportedly purchased in his native Ontario is “the likely spot for the ‘I dos.’”

The Daily Mail also claimed on Friday that a wedding will happen on Bieber's rumoured new property, likely with DJ Khalid, Usher, Alec Baldwin, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid in attendance.

E! News on Friday cited its own “insider” as confirming Bieber and Baldwin “are legally married.” It reported: "The source also shared that the couple, who got engaged two months ago, ‘didn't tell anyone they were doing it,’ adding, ‘They are doing a separate ceremony out of the country with a few family members soon as well.’”

Also on Friday, Us Weekly cited its own source as confirming that Bieber and Baldwin got hitched.

It claimed the couple “arrived through a back door, not the front entrance where everyone comes in” and “were taken back to a private office toward the back of the building by the clerk’s employees for privacy.”

On Sunday, Us Weekly changed its story, claiming that Bieber and Baldwin “legally wed … on Friday, September 14” – not on Thursday.

“An eyewitness at the court clerk’s office told Us that the couple entered the building on Friday through a back door, after which they were taken into a private office toward the back of the building,” the website reported.

Us Weekly’s sister outlets National Enquirer, OK! and Radar Online (yes, they're all owned by the same company) reported different claims.

The Enquirer said “the lovebirds have yet to set a wedding date.”

It mentioned that Bieber and Baldwin “were recently seen at a courthouse in New York City — sparking rumors that they’d gotten a marriage license that they’ll have to use within 60 days!” (If they got a marriage license in New York, the couple would have to get married in the state.)

(The Enquirer’s article claims Bieber “has turned into a ‘Sorry’ mess of pimples, zits and acne since announcing his plans to marry model Hailey Baldwin!”)

Radar Online referred to an article in a UK tabloid that claimed Bieber's reps are scrambling to draw up a prenup before “they actually wed.”

And OK! reported that Baldwin showed up in London on Sunday – “only days after rumors swirled that she and fiancé Justin Bieber got married.”

On Sunday, Vulture reported: "What we do know for sure, however, is that the duo visited a New York City courtroom last week to apply for a license in the Marriage Bureau, with sources saying during the visit they discussed an imminent trip to Canada. An imminent trip to marry in Canada, maybe?"

As news of the rumoured nuptials spread, Baldwin tweeted: “I understand where the speculation is coming from, but I’m not married yet!” The tweet, though, was later deleted.

Bieber has not yet commented on social media about the rumours, and neither has his father Jeremy. The pop star’s mother Pattie Mallette tweeted “Love is unconditional” on Friday and “Haters gonna hate. #LoveWins” on Sunday – but it’s not clear if these were anything more than random thoughts.

On Monday, Bieber and Baldwin "looked utterly smitten" as they walked together in London, according to The Daily Mail.

Adding to the Bieber rumours this week, TMZ posted an article Saturday claiming that the singer is applying to become an American citizen.

“Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ … Justin has applied for dual citizenship,” it reported.

This comes only days after Us Weekly reported that Bieber wants to return to Canada. “He wants to make his full-time home in Canada,” the outlet quoted a source as saying. "He needs to get out of the L.A., NYC scene."
