  • Autism Nova Scotia Walks YOUR Way in 2021

    Autism Nova Scotia Walks YOUR Way in 2021 Hosting Walk YOUR Way for Autism as a virtual event allows community members to participant while still practicing social distancing and other safety measures. The funds raised during Walk YOUR Way support crucial autism programs and services delivered by Autism Nova Scotia’s nine regional chapters, including social programming, family support and services, and advocacy work. Though the walk is virtual, participants and their loved ones are looking forward to gathering safely with their Walk teams to celebrate the autism community and raise funds that make a lasting positive impact. We’re encouraging everyone to get involved with Walk this year. There is no distance too short, and no contribution too small: every single dollar raised and kilometre walked is a step in the right direction. Virtual walks will take place across the province, hosted by Autism Nova Scotia’s nine Chapter locations (Annapolis Valley, Cape Breton Region, Cumberland County, Halifax & Bedford/Sackville, Pictou County, South Shore, South West, Strait Area, Truro).   • Military Training in Central Nova Scotia

    Local residents are advised that Canadian Armed Forces members will be conducting training in the vicinity of Pictou County, Truro, Debert and Springhill from September 24th to 26th. There will be an increase in military traffic in these areas and small arms training will be conducted at the Debert Rifle Range which may be heard by residents in the area. Any inconvenience is deeply regretted. No traffic disruptions are anticipated.
  • Wentworth Valley Trail Runners 24 hour Ultra running event

    Wentworth Valley Trail Runners are putting on a 24 hr Ultra running event at the Wentworth Provincial Park on Saturday, September 25th. This was delayed because of COVID, but is now confirmed (By DNR). It might be the only Ultra Marathon event which is happening in Nova Scotia in 2021. 50 runners will be attending and some are expected to achieve distances of 100k and a few are aiming for 160k. Proceeds are going to the Wentworth Community Center
  • High school students - Expo Days

    The Atlantic Association of Registrars and Admissions Officers (AARAO) is hosting online fairs for high school students to learn about post-secondary options in Canada. Our two big events are called Expo Days, and they're taking place on September 29th and December 2nd from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will also be an event just for Nova Scotia students on Oct. 20 from 7-9 p.m. Both events offer the opportunity for students to chat with representatives from the institutions. The Expo Days offer more perks such as the ability to download brochures, watch videos and quickly find links. This is where people can register and find more information:
  • North River District Fire Brigade Fire Prevention Week Open House

    North River District Fire Brigade is having and Open House on October 3rd to kick off Fire Prevention week from 10 am to 2pm. Learn the sounds of Fire safety. Stop in, look around, push some buttons, sound the siren. See what it is like to be a volunteer! There will be an obstacle couse relay race, medical table, kids draw, BBQ, donation boot and 50-50. Everyone welcome. Covid measurers will be in place.

    Thanksgiving Saturday Take-Out in Wentworth on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 12:00 to 4:00 pm at the Wentworth Recreation Centre, 13752 Highway 4, Wentworth. Choice of: Turkey Burger or Pulled Pork Burger with Cranberry Sauce, Dressing, Chips, and Homemade Cake. $10per person. Take-Out COVID rules will apply.
