Demi Lovato broke her silence about her split from fiancé Max Ehrich in the form of a song she released on Wednesday.
“I’m a mess and I’m still broken / But I’m finding my way back,” she sings. “And it feels like someone’s stolen all the light I ever had.”
Later, Lovato confesses: “I’d rather be alone … and it hurts to breathe / I don’t have much but at least I still have me / And that’s all I need.”
Sharing the song on social media, the 28-year-old pop star captioned it: “Music is always there for me…”
The heartbreaking song comes about a week after multiple media outlets reported that Lovato’s two-month engagement to Enrich was over.
Ehrich later wrote in an Instagram Story: “Imagine finding out about the status of your relationship through a tabloid.”
The 29-year-old actor popped the question in July on a Malibu beach, after which Lovato gushed on Instagram: “I love you more than a caption could express but I’m ecstatic to start a family and life with you. I love you forever my baby. My partner. Here’s to our future!!!!”
He wrote: “Words cannot express how infinitely in love with you I am forever and always and then some. I cannot spend another second of my time here on Earth without the miracle of having you as my wife.”
It was to be the first marriage for Lovato, who has identified as sexually fluid.
The engagement came only months after the pair started dating and just two days shy of the second anniversary of her near-fatal drug overdose.
