Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys are heating up the weekend with “Matches,” a new track to hype a deluxe edition of Spears’ 2016 album Glory.
“I’m so excited to hear what you think about our song together,” Spears wrote on social media.
The song – written by Mike Wise, Asia Whiteare, Justin Tranter and Ian Kirkpatrick – is included on the Glory reissue along with the recently-released “Swimming in the Stars” and four versions of “Mood Ring (On Demand).”
“The love you guys have shown this album this year has been stupid amazing,” Spears gushed, “like I can't even believe it!!! I hope it brings you joy.”
The Backstreet Boys said on social media: “We’ve been asked about the possibility of a collab like this for the past 20 years and today is the day!!”
Glory was Spears’ ninth studio album and the last one she recorded before announcing in 2019 that she was taking “an indefinite work hiatus.”
In March, the singer's 13-year-old son Jayden Federline said during an Instagram Live he didn't know if his mother will make music again. “I remember one time I asked her, I said, ‘Mom, what happened to your music?’ and she was like, ‘I don't know, honey. I think I might just quit it.’ I'm like, ‘What? What are you saying? Like, do you know how much bank you make off of that stuff?’”
