The Rolling Stones are “feeling restless” and about to announce details of a 2020 tour that includes a Vancouver stop in May.
On Monday, the band’s Instagram account featured a short animated clip of a train rolling under a Batman-like projection of the Stones’ iconic lips logo. The 1971 track “Brown Sugar” plays over the clip, which is captioned: “Feeling restless.”
At the same time, the famous lips started showing up on electronic billboards in several North American cities with only “Miss You,” “Emotional Rescue” or “Get What You Need.”
The Stones will reportedly kick things off in San Diego and go on to play more than a dozen U.S. cities, including Detroit, Buffalo, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
Only one Canadian date is expected to be part of the summer stadium tour – a May date at BC Place in Vancouver. The Stones haven’t played the venue since November 2006.
Last March, the Stones announced they were postponing the U.S. leg of their No Filter Tour so frontman Mick Jagger could undergo a heart valve replacement.
The lone Canadian show, north of Toronto, went ahead as scheduled on June 29. It was the band’s 19th official tour show in the Toronto area in 54 years.
