Youth charged in connection with fatal crash last spring in Pennfield

A 17-year-old youth has been charged in connection with a deadly single-vehicle last spring in Pennfield.

The RCMP says officers responded April 19th to a report of a crash on Route 778, which is believed to have occurred when the vehicle went into the ditch and hit a utility pole.

A 16-year-old girl from Upper Letang, who was the only passenger in the vehicle, died at the scene while the 17-year-old driver, who was from St. George, was taken to hospital with what were believed to be non life-threatening injuries.

On September 15th, a 17-year-old youth was charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.

The youth is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

Police continue to investigate.
