The Heartbroken is a Canadian band that consists of Damhnait Doyle, Stuart Cameron, Blake Manning and Peter Fusco.
Their second album, Storm Clouds, was released on Friday and includes the single “Tearing Me Up.”
If you haven’t discovered The Heartbroken, here’s a little about the band and its members.
- The group, which is based in Toronto, debuted at the East Coast Music Awards in 2009. Their first album, Tonight Tonight, was released in the summer of 2010.
- They were nominated for Group or Duo of the Year at the 2011 Canadian Country Music Association Awards and for Roots Artist or Group of the Year at the 2013 CCMAs.
- Damhnait Doyle, a native of Labrador City, has several solo albums to her credit — including 2000’s Hyperdramatic, which spawned the hit “Tattooed” — and a string of East Coast Music Awards. She also recorded two albums and toured Canada as part of Shaye (with Kim Stockwood and Tara MacLean).
- Stuart Cameron is a respected Toronto-born guitarist who has played for artists like Amanda Marshall, George Canyon, and Matthew Good. He’s the son of the late folk icon John Allan Cameron.
- In addition to being an accomplished musician, Peter Fusco is a web developer. He has played with acts like Sarah Slean, Serena Ryder, and Jim Cuddy.
- Toronto musician Blake Manning has played for a long list of artists, from Jill Barber and Matthew Good to Justin Rutledge and Alfie Zappacosta.
- The new album Storm Clouds was produced by The Heartbroken with help on some tracks from Serena Ryder and Gavin Brown. Ryder described working on the first single “Tearing Me Up” as “one of the highlights of my career.”
- An incredible live act, the band says they are anxious to hit the road again. “For me that is always the most gratifying experience,” Doyle said. “You can get isolated when recording an album and the process isn’t without its share of sweat and tears. So when you get back on stage it is so liberating and reminds us of why we love doing this.”
The Heartbroken will perform Nov. 2 at the Dakota Tavern in Toronto. Get more information here.
