Avec 9 nominations, Beyoncé part avec une longueur d’avance pour la 65e cérémonie des Grammy Awards qui aura lieu le 5 février 2023, en direct de la Crypto.com Arena de Los Angeles! La star de 41 ans est notamment en lice dans les prestigieuses catégories « Album de l’année » pour Renaissance paru en juillet dernier, ainsi que « Chanson de l’année » et « Enregistrement de l'année » pour son hit Break My Soul.
Avec un grand total de 88 nominations aux Grammy Awards depuis le début de sa carrière, Beyoncé égale le record détenu par son mari, le rappeur américain Jay-Z qui en a ajouté cinq cette année. Si la chanteuse remporte un trophée dans au moins quatre catégories le 5 février, celle-ci deviendra l’artiste la plus récompensée de tous les temps, détrônant ainsi le regretté chef d'orchestre hongrois Georg Solti qui a récolté pas moins de 31 Grammy Awards en carrière.
Le rappeur Kendrick Lamar arrive en deuxième position cette année avec 8 nominations, suivi d’Adele et Brandi Carlile qui en décrochent chacune 7. Harry Styles, Mary J. Blige, DJ Khaled et Future ont de leur côté six nominations.
Les artistes québécois et canadiens à l’honneur
Cinq artistes québécois sont en nomination, soit Yannick Nézet-Séguin (deux fois pour Meilleur enregistrement d’opéra ainsi que Meilleure performance d’opéra, Meilleur recueil classique et Meilleur album vocal solo classique), Allison Russell (Meilleure performance roots et Meilleure chanson roots), Kaytranada (Meilleur enregistrement dance pour Intimidated avec H.E.R. ), Arcade Fire (Meilleur album alternatif pour WE) et Xavier Dolan (Meilleur vidéoclip pour Easy On Me d’Adele).
Le Canada sera aussi bien représenté par Michael Bublé (Meilleur album vocal pop traditionnel pour Higher), Justin Bieber (Meilleur film musical pour Our World), Bryan Adams (Meilleure performance rock pour So Happy It Hurts) et Neil Young (Meilleur film musical pour A Band a Brotherhood a Barn avec Crazy Horse).
Même s’il n’a pas soumis sa propre musique en vue de la prochaine édition des Grammy Awards, Drake a tout de même été nommé à trois reprises pour ses collaborations avec Future et Jack Harlow.
