C’est dimanche soir que se déroulait à Las Vegas la 64e cérémonie des Grammy Awards, animée pour une deuxième année consécutive par Trevor Noah. Parmi les grands gagnants de la soirée, mentionnons Olivia Rodrigo, Silk Sonic et les Foo Fighters.
Olivia Rodrigo a décroché les Grammy Awards du Meilleur nouvel artiste, de la Meilleure performance pop solo (drivers license) et du Meilleur album pop vocal (Sour).
De leur côté, les gars de Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars et Anderson .Paak) ont mérité pas moins de quatre prix pour leur hit Leave the Door Open (Chanson de l’année, Enregistrement de l'année, Meilleure performance R&B et Meilleure chanson R&B).
Dans les catégories rock, les Foo Fighters ont triomphé sans conteste en remportant les trois Grammy Awards où ils étaient en nomination : Meilleur album rock (Medicine at Midnight), Meilleure chanson rock (Waiting On A War) et Meilleure performance rock (Making a Fire). Cette consécration arrive une dizaine de jours seulement après le décès de Taylor Hawkins, le batteur de la formation américaine.Le Québécois Yannick Nézet-Séguin a quant à lui remporté le Grammy Award de la Meilleure performance orchestrale pour ses Symphonies Nos. 1 & 3 avec l’Orchestre de Philadelphie.
Plusieurs artistes sont par ailleurs montés sur scène pour chanter en direct, dont Lady Gaga, Silk Sonic, BTS, Olivia Rodrigo, John Legend, J Balvin, Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, H. E. R., Brothers Osborne, Brandi Carlile, Jon Batiste, Jack Harlow, Chris Stapleton et Carrie Underwood.
Les Foo Fighters devaient aussi à l’origine offrir une prestation musicale mais ils ont annulé leur présence suite à la mort subite de Taylor Hawkins. Quant à Kanye West, celui-ci a été exclu de la cérémonie en raison de son « comportement en ligne préoccupant ».
Rappelons que l’édition 2022 des Grammy Awards devait d’abord avoir lieu le 31 janvier à Los Angeles, avant d’être reportée au 3 avril en raison de la vague Omicron. Il a alors été décidé que le gala se tiendrait pour la toute première fois à Las Vegas, plus précisément dans la salle du MGM Grand Garden Arena.
