Did we just find out that Justin Bieber is the “special guest” on Shawn Mendes’ forthcoming album Wonder?
In a trailer Mendes shared at the end of September, a set list is visible on the floor and it shows a track called “Monster” with “special guest” in parentheses.
Appearing recently on a UK radio show, Mendes was asked if it was true that he turned down a collaboration with his fellow Canadian pop star.
“Is this you trying to get me to confirm that I have a collaboration with Justin Bieber?,” he replied. “If I turned one down, that would be insane, considering he’s been one of my favourite artists since I was like nine years old.”
Mendes said he “cannot confirm or deny” but added: “In the last six months, we’ve definitely become a lot closer… You know, to have the same type of life. It’s really cool to have him as a mentor in a lot of ways, just to kind of talk through stuff with, because there’s not many people who do this type of stuff.”
Mendes gushed that Bieber is "freakishly talented."
Bieber has done a string of collaborations recently, including "Holy" with Chance the Rapper, "Stuck With U" with Ariana Grande and "Intentions" with Quavo.
For now, fans will have to wait... and wonder.
Wonder, the album, is out Dec. 4.
