LIZZO apologized on Tuesday for publicly shaming a food delivery person.
A day earlier, the singer took to Twitter to complain that an order from Postmates never arrived.
“This girl Tiffany W. Stole my food,” Lizzo fumed. “She lucky I don’t fight no more.” The tweet included a photo of the woman who was supposed to deliver the food.
According to several media reports, the courier had waited five minutes but was unable to reach LIZZO. Postmates said the company quickly resolved the issue.
Many fans suggested it was cruel and irresponsible for LIZZO to target the driver so publicly. “Publicly shaming someone in the service industry (esp. when you’re wealthy) is worse than stealing food.”
Another said Tiffany W. “might not be able to afford losing her job.”
LIZZO responded to the criticism on Tuesday. “I apologize for putting that girl on blast,” the “Truth Hurts” singer tweeted. “I understand I have a large following and that there were so many variables that could’ve put her in danger.
“Imma really be more responsible with my use of social media and check my petty and my pride at the door.”
