Rapper M.I.A. almost ended up missing in action for the Canadian premiere of a documentary about her life on Wednesday in Toronto.

The British-Sri Lankan star (whose real name is Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam) was delayed in London due to an issue with her passport.

M.I.A. was scheduled to attend a screening of the Steven Loveridge-directed film Mathangi / Maya / M.I.A. at the Hot Docs festival and a Q&A session.

Early Tuesday she wrote on Instagram: ”At the airport in London they wont let me board a plane to Canada for screening of documentary. Apparently a mystrious [sic] person has added a stamp on my name in 2017 for some issue. No one knows who or what its about?!!!.”

Hours later, M.I.A.’s manager Christopher Taylor said in a statement that the situation was resolved and the artist was in the air. “She is very excited to be coming to Toronto,” he said.
