A young cancer patient got some FaceTime with three of his favourite artists – J. Cole and Canada’s The Weeknd and Drake – only days before he died.
“Incredibly grateful for these 3 super-humans being so caring for my family during this time,” wrote Michael Watson II, the cousin of 11-year-old Elijah Williams. “We’ll hold onto these moments forever.”
Williams, who has battled cancer fore three years, died on March 27. “He didn't leave this world without knowing how much he was loved though,” Watson shared.
In a video clip posted on Instagram, Williams’ eyes opened wide when he was told J. Cole was on the screen in front of him.
Upon seeing The Weeknd, the boy says “whoa!” The singer tells Williams he was “so honoured that you wanted me to be one of your favourite artists, buddy, thank you.” He added: “I appreciate that smile, so thank you.”
Watson also shared a photo showing Drake in a FaceTime call with Williams.
Watson, who works in the music industry and volunteers for Anderson .Paak’s .Paak House, credited its executive assistant director Krystal Miles and Biz 3 Publicity owner Kathryn Frazier for making the calls happen.
View this post on InstagramOver the past 3 years, my 11 y.o. cousin, Elijah, has battled cancer with the utmost resilience. Elijah's physical fight is now complete, as he transitioned to heaven on Friday. He didn't leave this world without knowing how much he was loved though. Last weekend, Elijah got to "meet" 3 of his favorite artists — The Weeknd, J. Cole, & Drake. Incredibly grateful for these 3 super-humans being so caring for my family during this time. We’ll hold onto these moments forever. A special thank you to the angels, Kathryn & Krystal for helping make this happen in such a short time. Please lift Kiara, Elijah's mom, and the rest of the fam up in your thoughts & prayers. In a time where there seems like so much is out of our control, one thing that we all have the power to give + show others is LOVE. 2 Corinthians 5:8
