Taylor Swift Can Perform Early Hits At AMAs
Taylor Swift will be able to perform a medley of her hits during the American Music Awards, where she will be honoured as Artist of the Decade.
The pop star’s former label, Big Machine Label Group (BMLG), said in a statement Monday that it has informed the producers of the AMAs that it has agreed to “grant all licenses of their artists’ performances to stream post show and for re-broadcast on mutually approved platforms.”
The statement added that artists like Swift “do not need label approval for live performances on television or any other live media.”

Last Thursday, Swift went public with a claim that BMLG’s Scott Borchetta and Scott “Scooter” Braun told her reps “that I’m not allowed to perform my old songs on television because they claim that would be re-recording my music before I’m allowed to next year.”
Swift accused the pair of “exercising tyrannical control” over her.
On Friday, BMLG responded with a statement of its own. “Taylor, the narrative you have created does not exist,” it read.
“At no point did we say Taylor could not perform on the AMAs … In fact, we do not have the right to keep her from performing live anywhere.”
Swift’s rep Tree Paine countered that a BMLG executive, whom she did not name, advised the singer’s team on Oct. 28 that the company “will not agree to issue licenses for existing recordings or waivers of its re-recording restrictions” and that Borchetta “flatly denied the request” for Swift to perform her early hits on the AMAs.
