Ed Sheeran’s highly-anticipated cameo in Game of Thrones happened on Sunday’s season premiere.
In the roughly four-minute scene, Sheeran sings with a group of Lannister soldiers in the forest.
“Hands of gold are always cold, but a woman’s hands are warm,” he sings as Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) arrives on horseback.
“It’s a pretty song,” she says. “I’ve never heard it before.”
Sheeran’s character replies: “It’s a new one.”
Later in the scene, the singer delivers another line: “Worst place in the world.”
Fans had fun on social media with Sheeran's GoT appearance.
"The Ed Sheeran scene was actually an interesting moment/departure that was overshadowed by putting Ed Sheeran in it," tweeted New York Times TV critic James Poniewozik.
Viewer Brandy Jensen posted: "Ed Sheeran appearing on game of thrones but not being brutally disemboweled was very disappointing."
The Guardian's Stuart Heritage called Sheeran's cameo a "dud" but said the singer's "go-nowhere campfire song" on the show "was better than 'Galway Girl.'"
Game of Thrones airs on HBO Canada.
