Womp, womp! Despite Ed Sheeran previously telling the BBC that Taylor Swift would be releasing new music “probably” around the holidays this year, the “Shape of You” singer has backtracked on his statement.
In a brand new interview on The Kane Show, Sheeran confirmed that Taylor Swift wouldn’t be releasing any music this year. Swift is still happily on hiatus, with her most recent music being her duet with Zayn, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever”, for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack.

Sheeran would know, as the pair are so close that it has long been rumoured they were an item. The U.K. singer-songwriter addressed these rumours in a recent Rolling Stone interview, brushing off the rumours as “lazy journalism”.
He did, however, confirm that he took a fancy to some of Swift’s friends. “I was this 22-year-old awkward British kid going on tour with the biggest artist in America, who has all these famous mates,” he said. “It was very easy… I would often find myself in situations just kind of waking up and looking over and being like, ‘How the fuck did that happen?'”
Sheeran is locked and loaded for a no. 1 debut on the Billboard Hot 100, as his new album Divide has already passed the billion views mark on YouTube.
