Barbara Weldens, a rising star in French music, died Wednesday while performing at a festival in France. She was 35.
Investigators believe the singer suffered cardiac arrest after being electrocuted during her set at the Léo Ferré Festival in the village of Gourdon.
Weldens typically performed barefoot.
She received acclaim for her debut album Le Grand H De L’Homme, which was released earlier this year.
“She was a radiant woman, talented and full of energy,” read a statement from organizers of the Pic D’Or Prize, which Weldens won last year.
