A competitor on the Quebec version of singing competition series The Voice has been edited out of the show due to a criminal conviction.
According to a press release Thursday, producers of La Voix decided to axe the singer “after learning that he had been found guilty of serious criminal charges.”
While it did not identify the competitor or specify the crime, the release said “for this kind of offence it’s zero tolerance.”
Team Éric Lapointe will have only 11 people at the end of the blind auditions but producers said editing out the competitor will have no impact on the competition because he did not advance to the live shows.
Season 7 of La Voix premiered on Feb. 10 and will crown a winner on May 5.
La Voix is produced by Déferlantes Productions and broadcaster TVA.
