A trio of rock musicians have turned to the music of Canada’s Rush during their self-isolation.
Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante, Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick and Suicidal Tendencies bassist Roberto “Ra” Diaz this week shared a cover of the 1978 Rush track “La Villa Strangiato.”
“Despite being an instrumental, the song tells a complete story, complete with plot and characters,” Benante explained in the description. “It’s based on some nightmares Alex Lifeson experienced.
“We hope you all enjoy it as much as we did playing it!”
It follows a cover of 1981’s “YYZ” that the three rockers posted online earlier this month.
Benante said Rush inspired he, Skolnick and Diaz to be better musicians and said Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and the late Neil Peart “not only played amazing, they also wrote some of the best songs.”
