Elton John says he has no plan to make a new album anytime soon.
“I just don’t think this is a time for me to think about recording,” the 73-year-old told Record Collector. "I will get in the mood to record again – and I’ll get in the mood to write.
"But no one needs another Elton John record out at the moment.”
John, who had to pause his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour due to the pandemic, said he has spent the lockdown being a father to Zachary and Elijah, his sons with Canadian husband David Furnish.
“I love being a dad,” he gushed.
The Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour began in September 2018 and was scheduled to wrap up in early 2021. He had already made stops in Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec City, Montreal, Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Winnipeg.
In September, John announced rescheduled tour dates in 2022, including Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena on Feb. 14 and 15, 2022 for shows that were originally supposed to happen this past March 28 and 29, and Montreal’s Bell Centre on Feb. 18 and 19, 2022 for shows initially set for April 2 and 3.
