After weeks of teasing it on social media, Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber have debuted their latest collaboration, “I Don’t Care.”
The catchy track is about feeling awkward in social situations. “I’m at a party I don’t want to be at / and I don’t ever wear a suit and tie,” they sing. “Wondering if I can sneak out the back / Nobody’s even looking at me in my eye.”
It’s the first new music from Bieber since 2017’s “Friends” with BloodPop, although the Canadian pop star was featured on last year’s “No Brainer” from DJ Khaled and “Hard 2 Face Reality” by Poo Bear.
"Been a long time since I’ve done a countdown to new music," Bieber tweeted late Thursday.
Both Bieber and Sheeran, who co-wrote Bieber’s 2015 hit “Love Yourself,” added their voices to the Lil Dicky track “Earth.”
In March, Bieber told fans he was taking some time to focus on working through “deep rooted” mental health issues. He promised to record a new album as soon as possible “but nothing comes before my family and my health.”
Last month, he made a surprise appearance with Ariana Grande during her Coachella set to lip-sync “Sorry.” Before he left the stage, Bieber teased: “Album coming soon.”
